July 24, 2020

Get set to plan your next trip with Air Canada's new biosafety measures complete with flexible and expanded booking options and Air Canada CleanCare+.

Check-in

Air Canada knows how important your safety is every step of the way, which is why they are implementing touch-free airport experiences.

  1. TouchFree Bag Check
Now at select airports, Air Canada check-in areas featureTouchFree Bag Check kiosksfor domestic travel, with international travel beginning later this summer. You can automatically print your bag tags without contact. Simply check-in online, select the exact number of checked bags, and pay any applicable fees, to get your boarding pass in advance. At the airport, all you will need to do is scan your electronic or paper boarding pass at a TouchFree Bag Check kiosk to print all of your bag tags.

  2. Carry-on baggage: touchless verification and enforcement
In order to streamline the boarding process, all passengers will be required to comply with verification measures pre-security, or at the gate.

New technologies will be introduced later this summer at select airports* to automatically size and measure carry-on baggage for compliance, making the carry-on baggage policy verification process touchless.

*In the following cities: Toronto (Pearson), Montreal, and Ottawa.

Virtual queues

Air Canada is introducing virtual queues for customer care needs. By scanning a QR code at the entrance of a queue, you will then receive a virtual ticket to your phone, followed by a notification when it is your turn to proceed to the counter.

Boarding

As a further safety measure, Air Canada has made several changes to their boarding process. By boarding less customers at the same time, as well as boarding the cabin from window to aisle, and from back to front, they will be streamlining onboard interactions during boarding.

Remain seated at your gate until your zone is called. Upon boarding, you will proceed to scan your own boarding pass. Air Canada will also be limiting usage of gates in direct adjacency whenever possible.

In addition, boarding gates will close 30 minutes prior to departure to ensure a more secure boarding process.

Priority and pre-boarding will remain available to eligible customers.

Connection services

Some connection services, such as terminal shuttles, may be temporarily suspended. Please refer to airport signs in order to make your connection in a timely manner. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to any airport, or Air Canada representatives who will be happy to assist you.
